Not easy to judge the owner from this act alone.. But the fact that he doesn't even extend an invitation to home tells that he isn't very social.. Probably, that's the life he's used to..
Any way, it's cool to have a owner who doesn't care.. Next time, you can probably just ignore the payment of rent till he comes around.. :)
