Hogenakkal is not one single huge waterfall but a series of smaller falls,all in full flow.Hogenakkal means 'Smoking Rocks'.The name "Hogenakkal" has it’s root in the Kannada terms ‘Hege’ meaning smoke and ‘Kal’ meaning rock or stone. So, ‘Hogenakkal’ translated to ‘Smoking rock’. The smoke referred to here is the spray of water as it hits against the rocky surface.. from a distance, this spray of water resembles a smoke and hence the name.It is really a must place to visit for nature lovers.
How to go : The place is 40kms from Dharmapuri.Around 150kms from Blore.Dharmapuri is in between Blore and Coimbatore.
Hotels :You can't expect any nice or atleast better hotels to stay.So its better to make a one day trip.
Coracle : Coracle is nothing but a round boat which takes u near the falls.One boat can carry upto 5 persons along with a boatman.The Cost again depends on bargain.We got it for Rs.500 per boat along with the Govt. ticket of Rs.35per person.
Its takes around 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs to complete the trip on boat.Its not a complete boat ride.U have to walk a bit,climb on rocks a bit.Totally its fun,very much fun.

hmmm.. totally five falls are there.. called as ஐந்தருவி in tamil.. the big one is called as Main aruvi :)
